Robots at Medica2014
The annual MEDICA is the world‘s largest medical marketplace annually organized in Düsseldorf. During the 4 days of exhibition, the nearly 5,000 exhibitors attracted around 130,000 visitors (from 120 foreign countries) who had a chance to benefit of their product innovations in health care.
Unfortunately, there was not much robotics presented. Trumpf medical was the only one bringing a da Vinci, a neat Xi system, and also a fake Zeego was on exhibit. They are working on the smooth integration of robots and actuated OR tables. At most sites, de Vinci tools were used as demonstrators for advanced sterilization and packaging systems. Meele came out with the first device specific for Xi tools! AKTORmed presented its new generation laparoscope holder robot, and there were some gait-rehabilitation devices.
