A great new palpation tool from UC Berkeley
At our ICRA15 workshop (reported in the last post) we organized a poster competition, where the two runner-ups were:
- "Eye Gaze Tracking System for the da Vinci Research Kit"; Irene Tong , Omid Mohareri , Samuel Tatasurya , Craig Hennessey , Septimiu Salcudean
- "Simulink to C++ Interface for Controller Development on the da Vinci Research Kit (dVRK)"; Angelica Ruszkowski, Zhan Fan Quek, Allison Okamura, and Septimiu Salcudean
And the first prize went to the great research work of Garg et al: "Preliminary Report on the Design of a Palpation Probe for Robot-Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery".
The team built a Disposable Haptic Palpation Probe for Locating Subcutaneous Blood Vessels in Robot-Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery. The best part is that you can also get your copy of it, as a part of their dedication to the DVRK community!
