New Special Issue of TMRB

New IEEE TMBR Special Issue on surgical robotics (CRAS2024 & ICORR2025):

"The IEEE Transactions on Medical Robotics and Bionics (T-MRB) is an initiative shared by the two IEEE Societies of Robotics and Automation (RAS) and Engineering in Medicine and Biology (EMBS). T-MRB is a highly multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the dissemination of innovative research for medical applications. It emphasizes original theoretical contributions and impactful application case studies within the fields of medical robotics and bionics. In particular, one of the six journal areas addressed in T-MRB is surgical robotics.

The editorial choice to link this issue of T-MRB to CRAS 2024 has been made to present the latest research results in surgical robotics and related domains that were presented at the 13th CRAS conference to a broader audience. Also, this 13th edition of the CRAS conference was a full in-person meeting. The meeting took place from 11 to 13 September at the University of Southern Denmark, Odense. Aside from attending oral presentations, poster teasers, and poster presentations, participants could also visit the robotic laboratories at SDU, as well as join a tour to companies active in the dynamic robotic scene of Odense. With eight industrial demonstrations, 41 extended abstracts from institutes out of eight countries, and participants from more than 18 nationalities, this CRAS edition was a great success. Topics ranged from novel sensors, innovative piezo-actuators, virtual reality training systems, up to autonomous catheter navigation. All accepted conference abstracts underwent a peer-review process by at least two—but mostly three or more—international expert reviewers, leaders of their respective field. Authors of accepted papers had the opportunity to incorporate reviewer feedback in the final camera-ready abstracts that were included in the conference proceedings. Acknowledging the importance of equal access to (mostly) government-funded research results, the full proceedings of the conference are made available to the scientific community in open access."
