Medicaroid by Kawasaki
Medicaroid, based in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, is a joint venture between Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Sysmex. The name Medicaroid is derived from the Medical and Android words. The company is developing its own master-slave RAMIS platform. Since 2013, the company has been conducting R&D activities that will enable medical robots, which are shown as the future of the medical sector, together with doctors and nurses to perform surgical operations. Human trials are expected for 2019, and the partners are considering setting up a medical robot factory in Hyogo Prefecture by around 2020.

Last Cotober, "Medicaroid and KARL STORZ concluded an umbrella agreement to form a business alliance for the equipment of robotic assisted surgery systems. Based on this agreement, Medicaroid will be supplied with surgical devices from KARL STORZ, and develop a clinically useful robotic system by applying such premium products to the robotic system which is currently under development by Medicaroid."
