Fusion Robotics
Fusion Robotics, LLC is a "medical technology company focused on the
design, development and commercialization of cost effective robotic
surgical solutions for the treatment of patients suffering from spinal
disorders. Our founders have a shared vision to improve the outcomes for
patients in all economic environments with the use of innovative
integration of new robotics and localization technologies using 3D and
2D imaging techniques along with standard navigation methods. We believe
our expertise in spinal fusion and product development allows us to
offer our surgeon customers a differentiated portfolio and a "complete
solution" to meet their surgical needs."
Earlier this summer, Fusion Robotics closed a financing round for an undisclosed amount "with lead investment by Alex Lukianov (Lukpartners, LLC) and Kevin Foley, MD. The proceeds were to be used to ready the company's spinal robotics platform to obtain regulatory clearance and to prepare for commercialization.
The platform is an integration of technologies from Interventional Systems (Wattens, Austria) and Practical Navigation, LLC (Boulder, CO). Fusion Robotics' CEO Brad Clayton, says, "The Fusion Robotics platform has a small footprint and is simple, cost-effective and scalable" which differentiates the system from other spinal robots currently on the market and in the immediate-term product pipeline.
"Fusion Robotics will create opportunities for wide-scale adoption of robotics in spine surgery - both in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASC's) - by addressing constraints related to practicality and cost. We see tremendous potential and are excited to bring this technology to the global spine market," said Alex Lukianov, who will hold the role of Chairman of the Board for Fusion Robotics, LLC."

Fusion's technology is licensed exclusively for spine applications from the Austrian Interventional Systems (formerly iSYS, before that, B-ROB). It aims to bring a robot to the OR which is:
- Cost-Effective, Small-Footprint
- 2D and 3D Imaging Integration
- Comprehensive Instrument Navigation
- Rapid Set-up, Registration and Planning
