ANSUR – Another Surgeon

ANSUR – Another Surgeon - is a RAMIS system developed by A-Traction Inc. in Chiba, Japan (established in 2015), with $4m investment.

"At A-Traction, engineers and surgeons have worked together to develop medical devices.
Surgeons need a comfortable operating interface to collaborate with robots.
By realizing that, we will become "Another Surgeon".
The novel control device was fabricated to reduce the load of surgeons which results in endoscopic surgery in preferable circumstance.

Consequently, the system frees control console of conventional surgical procedure.
We believe that it allows surgeons to stand by the patient closer and to achieve safer surgery.

Surgical robots for laparoscopic surgery are becoming ever more popular across the world though, Japan is lagging far behind in terms of the commercial application. One reason is thought to be the difficulty of commercialization of medical devices, which leads to a barrier for entry for large companies. A-Traction Inc. was established as a startup to develop novel and high quality surgical robots for laparoscopic surgery. We believe that our surgical robots will help to increase the QOL of all patients."
