Bitrack from Rob Surgical
"Rob Surgical, a Barcelona, Spain-based company which designs and develops new robotic systems for minimally invasive surgery, closed a €5m funding round. Dutch holding Scranton Enterprises made the investment. The company intends to use the funds to obtain the CE marking for the Bitrack system. The Bitrack System will be an alternative to the current laparoscopy surgical robot Da Vinci. Created in 2012 as a spin-off of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) and led by Jaume Amat, CEO, Dr Alícia Casals, Dr Manel Frigola, Rob Surgical is advancing the Bitrack System, which will be an alternative to the current laparoscopy surgical robot Da Vinci, and will be an improvement on what is currently available in terms of efficiency. The new robot has already been technically validated in experimental models, used by surgeons from the Mayo Clinic (United States) and the Barcelona university hospitals Clinic, Vall d’Hebron and Germans Trias. Between 2019 and 2021, the company will build three new units to finalise the validation and industrialisation process, will expand the corporate and engineering team and will conduct the final safety and functionality trials."
Core Technology
The unique robotic column architecture provides a multi-quadrant surgical access whichallows robotic station placement in any position around the patient, enabling four-quadrant anatomical access and complete patient accessibility.
Flexible and modular
Fast, easy and flexible installation and docking process. Passive floating fulcrum allowing free movement of the instrument: passive joints adapt to the incision point during movement.
Hybrid surgery
Open source ports allow both robotic and traditional lap instruments to operate simultaneously. High-precision instruments
With seven degrees of freedom instruments maximising the deployment of surgeons' skills. Single-use instruments are the solution to reduce direct and indirect costs.
Light, smart console
Bitrack is controlled by an open, smart console with 3D HD screen. The console has a Laparoscope Guided Positioning function. The sensory feedback function gives a boost to surgical performance.
